RandPod is a small Python program to pick out random music for loading into an mp3 player or burning onto a CDROM as a mix disc. Send me feedback if you have any suggestions.

Setup

• Make sure you have Python installed.
• Download randpod.py (4.5K), preferably in your music directory.

Usage

Randpod can be used from the desktop by just double-clicking on randpod.py.

• Set the Path to the source path full of mp3s to select from.
• Set the Max Size to however many MB of files you want to select.
• Set the Destination to the path to copy mp3s into. If this path does not exist, it will be created for you.
• Click on Randomize to select files, look to see if you like this mix.
• Click on Copy to actually copy the files. This may take a while. When it is done, it will say "Copied N files!".
• Close the window or hit Exit to quit. You can now enjoy your digital noise!

Randpod can also be used from the command line:

% randpod.py PATH SIZE_MB DEST

RandPod has been tested on Windows and Linux, and ought to work on any machine with Python (and Tkinter, for the GUI version).
