Castles Version 1.2
A Strategy Wargame
for the iPhone and iPod touch
by Mark Damon Hughes
[Available on the App Store]
$4.99

Castles is about the last stand of civilization against barbarism. A hundred barbarians are charging towards your castle. A handful of barricades, a wall, and a small band of heroes must hold the barbarians back.

Castles is a turn-based strategy wargame of using limited reinforcements to shore up collapsing defenses, and using the enemy's aggression to keep them away from your castle.

Version 1.2 updated:
  • Three difficulty levels: Easy, Challenge (original game), and Nightmare (OMG, they KEEP COMING!).
  • Occupied rows which earn gold are highlighted, so you can plan your advance more easily.
  • Arrows from archers are now visible, making it easier to tell what they're shooting at.

Version 1.1 updated, containing the following changes:
  • Selecting a unit is much easier now, "snapping" to nearest unit to where you tapped. For best results, tap slightly left and above a unit.
  • Fractional gold, so odd numbers of occupied rows generate a half-gold more than before.
  • Fractional MP, and Knights only cost 0.5 MP per empty space moved into, letting them reach battle a bit faster. They still require 1 MP to fight a Barbarian, but this makes them more competitive with Archers.
  • Help file is now in HTML, with illustrations to explain tricky parts.
